GERSH SPORTS THROWS OUT FIRST PITCH
WITH LAUNCH OF BASEBALL DIVISION
Beverly Hills, CA – Stepping up to the plate in a big way, Gersh Sports has launched a baseball division with the hiring of Paragon Sports Management principals Joseph C. Longo and Matt Walker as division head/sports representative and vice president of business development, respectively.
Along with retired MLB All-Stars Matt Williams and Lenny Dykstra, among those current players segueing to Gersh Sports through Longo and Walker are David Dellucci (Cleveland Indians), Luis Ayala (Washington Nationals), Jeremy Brown (Oakland A’s), Brett Tomko (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Alay Solar (XXXXXX), in addition to numerous former first- and second-round draft picks including Sergio Santos and Ricky Romero (Toronto Blue Jays), Johnny Drennen (Cleveland Indians), Kris Honel (Chicago White Sox), Jeff Lyman (Atlanta Braves), Ronnie Bourquin (Detroit Tigers) and Ryan Adams (Baltimore Orioles). Walker brings mixed martial arts champion Randy “The Natural” Couture of the UFC.
Longo represented baseball players for a dozen years, beginning with Antonio Osuna (L.A. Dodgers), until Michael Ovitz of AMG hired him to run its baseball division. Three years later, when The Firm acquired AMG, Longo left to launch his own venture, Paragon Sports Management. Longo began his career as a business litigator, first at a large Los Angeles firm, then as a solo practitioner until 1999. During this time he also taught as an adjunct professor at L.A. City College, Pasadena City College and Mission College in their Paralegal Studies program. He earned a B.A. in history from Brown University in 1986 and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1990.
Walker played football and baseball at UCLA while working his way toward earning an undergraduate degree in mass communications. He began his career handling baseball players at AMG until The Firm acquired the company, when Walker then joined with Joe Longo to launch Paragon Sports Management. At Paragon he solidified his network of relationships necessary for effective athlete representation, marketing, sponsorship and consulting. Walker also has two TV shows in development and operates the Catch 22 for Blue Foundation, a successful non-profit launched by David Dellucci whose mission is to raise awareness about issues that affect his home state of Louisiana.
Commenting on the launch of the baseball division and the hiring of Longo and Walker, Gersh COO Hugh Dodson said, “In holding true to our company’s nearly 60-year philosophy of personalized service, we have avoided acquiring big chunks of other agencies to prevent getting too big too fast. Instead, as we have done with our Sports department, we have chosen well-paced growth, and we are pleased to launch our baseball division with Joe and Matt, both the type of personal-service representative who fit into our culture and with whom we can truly nurture a business.”

Former UA running back Chris Henry's blind leap into the NFL draft pool is beginning to look genius.
Clayton's past didn't faze Luchs, who actually saw Clayton's limited playing time as a plus. "The fact that his play was sporadic means there's very little tread worn off those tires. And he's coming into the league with a lot less severe off-the-field issues than some players," Luchs said. "I expect him to be a much better pro player than he was a college player. He's got great size and speed. He's so muscular, so explosive and a lot shiftier than people think. He has all the intangibles."
